Robert Sloan (Bob) Brock, age 87, husband of the late Jean Ray Brock, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018. Bob and Jean were married for 60 years.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late W. Sloan and Ruby Massey Brock. A 1950 graduate of Honea Path High School, he continued his education at Furman University and graduated in 1954. Following graduation, he served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany. Bob was retired from First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Anderson, after 34 years of service, as Senior Vice-President. Following his retirement, he served as volunteer in several community endeavors that assisted others. Bob was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Anderson, having taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was named a Life Deacon in 2012, and served in many capacities in the church.
Survivors include daughters, Jane B. Stone (Brad) of Macon, Georgia, and Beth B. Armstrong of Hampton, Virginia; three grandchildren, Katie Windsor Stone, Haley Ray Armstrong, and Robert Alexander Stone; nephew, James T. Massey, Jr.; and niece, Melinda M. Thompson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, James T. and Ann Hopper Massey and a nephew, Billy Massey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 17, at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. James R. Thomason.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:15 a.m. Monday at the mortuary.
A private burial will follow the service at Garden of Memories in Belton. The family will be at the residence.
