Lorene (Stratton) McAlister

Honea Path – Lorene Stratton McAlister, 92, of Honea Path, widow of Raymond Harold McAlister, died Friday, January 26, 2018 at her home.

Born in Elberton, Ga, she was a daughter of the late Ira W. and Madge Conwell Stratton. She was retired assistant clerk of the Town of Honea Path and was an active member of the Honea Path First Baptist Church, where she served in many ministries, including teaching the 5-year old Sunday School class for many years. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Mrs. McAlister was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a devoted friend, and was known as “Granny” to many people.

Surviving are a son, Ken McAlister (Cathy) of Ware Shoals, two daughters, Janice Ashley (Herbert) and Sharon Parker (Ken) both of Honea Path, seven grandsons, Toby McAlister (Tammy), Jeff McAlister (Kerri), Wes McAlister (Jessica), Matthew Ashley (Susan), Seth Ashley (Rachel), Joel Parker (Morgan), and Mac Parker, and six great-grandchildren, Ashlee Coody (Kolea), Tamara Greer, Ryan Greer, Savannah McAlister, Levi McAlister, and Avery Ashley, and a sister-in-law, Betty McAlister.

She was pre-deceased by one brother, Ronnie Stratton, and two sisters, Lenora Thomas and Florine Ozmint.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:30 PM at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Sunday at Pruitt Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Honea Path First Baptist Church, 100 S.
